CSM selected as a College of Distinction for
2008/09
College of Saint Mary has been
selected as a College of Distinction in the United States for the 2008/09 academic year. This honor, which is only bestowed on 240
colleges and universities across the country, is awarded by Student Horizons,
Inc. and published in the new Colleges of Distinction guidebook. CSM is one
of only three colleges in Nebraska selected to receive this honor.
CSM was selected for inclusion in this publication based on its stellar
performance in four key areas of distinction - student engagement, teaching,
community, and successful outcomes - the foundations of a strong undergraduate
education.
Each college included in the Colleges of
Distinction guidebook was selected based on criteria created by a panel of
high school college counselors, college admission professionals, and college
administrators. The panel looked beyond the usual criteria used to develop
college rankings and instead chose to evaluate the total undergraduate
experience.
"It's an honor that College of Saint Mary is being recognized for the unique
experience it offers women and the role it plays in helping students succeed
throughout their four years on campus and for the rest of their lives," said
Dr. Maryanne Stevens, RSM, President of College of Saint Mary. "As a
university, we strive to encourage our students to be leaders in their
communities, discover their potential, and fully embrace their gifts and
talents."
