What Are the
Benefits of Attending A Women's College?
At first when I
heard about College of Saint Mary, I ruled it out because it is an all
girls' school. Then, after I went on a college visit and saw the school, I fell
I love with it. I liked the small campus setting and the atmosphere surrounding
College of Saint Mary. The college is everything I had been
looking for. I know that I can excel there because the classrooms are smaller
and the professors will know my strengths and my weaknesses. That way, we can
work on these traits to bring out the best in me.
One night I was
thinking about the whole situation and found that going to an all girl school
has its benefits. I won't have to worry too much about getting "made-up" in the
mornings. Plus, during class time there is a "shyness"
about me as to worrying if the guys think I am stupid. At College of Saint Mary, I won't feel that pressure. I want to
stay focused on my goals, which is majoring in pre-med and playing volleyball.
I feel that having guys around will be a distraction to me. Don't get me wrong,
they are a pleasant distraction; but at College of Saint Mary I would be able to regulate that
situation on my own terms and when I feel I am ready.
When I visit
your campus, they gave me a t-shirt that I have worn to school. Everyone has
asked me "why would you go to an all girls school?" My
answer is simple. I feel relaxed and at ease on our campus. Everyone I met
treated me nicely and made me feel at home. They made me feel like I was
already a part of them. I want to belong to the College of Saint Mary family!
