Practical Nursing Program |

The Practical Nursing program prepares students for entry level practice in nursing. Most commonly graduates will find jobs in long term care facilities and physician clinics but opportunities exist in other areas such as acute care settings and mental health. Normal time to completion is 1 year. In 2010 -2011 90% of practical nursing certificate graduates completed in 1 year. Students in College of Saint Mary’s Practical Nursing Program do very well on the state certification exam taken at the end of the program.
Costs of the Program
At College of Saint Mary we do everything we can to keep our learning environment up to date and ready for you to use. At the same time, we keep the costs affordable. The program costs are below. We encourage you to file your Free Application for Student Financial Aid because you may be eligible for a Pell grant for for subsidized federal loans to assist you with the costs. In addition, we offer a summer “work” program in which you can work on campus to help offset the costs. Do not be initially swayed by the costs. Come and see us first and let us tell you how you might best afford to become a licensed practical nurse.

How To Apply
Apply for Admission
If you have not yet applied for the nursing program, please fill out this application. In addition to submitting the application form, please have your most recent transcripts (high school and/or college) sent to Enrollment Services, 7000 Mercy Road, Omaha, NE., 68106.
Sign-Up Online To Take A TEAS Test
We require a Test of Essential Academic Skills (TEAS) to assure that you are ready to enter the program. The details about the test along with opportunities to take a free workshop to prepare for the test and register are provided at this link.
Submit A Background Check for the Practical Nursing Program
In order to do clinical rotations within the program you must have a background check on file prior to the start of classes. All clinical nursing sites require this. Please complete the required form by clicking on this link. Prior to beginning this process please have available all prior addresses and names.
