Our youth swim lesson program follows the guidelines
set by the American Red Cross. Our classes feature a low student-to-teacher
ratio, allowing greater student involvement.
All classes will be held on campus in our Lied Fitness Center pool. Please refer
to the LEVEL descriptions below to determine the
appropriate class for your child.

supported front and back float, bubble blowing, kicking, and moving through the
water with support. (For children with limited or no experience)
Level Two: Primary Skills
This level is the beginning of fundamental skills such as
unassisted floating, locomotion, and combined kicking and arm movements. (For children with limited experience)
Level Three: Stroke Readiness

crawl. Students will also begin spending
time in deep-water activities. (For those who have just begun or are ready
to begin learning strokes)
Level Four: Stroke Development
Students develop confidence in their strokes as well as
endurance. They will be introduced to
the breaststroke and sidestroke. This
class meets in the deep water.
Level Five: Stroke Refinement
The objective of Level V is coordination and stroke
refinement. Students are introduced to
the butterfly, open turns and the feet-first surface dive. Students will swim increasing distances using
the strokes they have previously learned.
Level Six: Skill Proficiency
The objective of this level is to polish students' stroke
mechanics. Students should learn to swim
increasing, distances, smoothly with ease and efficiency.
