Contact Coach Beam
2011 will be the first season for Shad Beam as the Head Soccer coach of College of Saint Mary. Beam is no stranger to soccer in the Omaha Metro area.  Last season, he served as an assistant women’s coach at Midland University. Currently, Beam is the team manager for the Omaha Vipers, the local professional indoor soccer team.

Prior to joining Midland University, Beam served as the head men’s soccer coach at Dana College from 2002 until 2007, and as the head women’s soccer coach from 2007 to 2009.  He owns the career record for wins in the men’s program with a 55-56-5 mark. He is also second all-time on the women’s chart with a career mark of 31-27-2. Overall, Beam has a career mark of 86-83-7. During his time at Dana College, he also served as the Sports Information Director.

Beam successfully rebuilt the men’s soccer program at Dana College into one of the top teams in the GPAC on and off the field. His 2005 men’s team led the NAIA men’s soccer programs with a team grade point average of 3.48. During his three seasons coaching the women’s team at Dana, the women’s soccer team earned three straight NAIA and NSCAA team academic accolades.

A Denison, Iowa, native, Beam played tennis and club soccer at Dana where he earned his bachelor of arts degree in social science and psychology in 1994. He then earned his master’s of science degree in organizational business-sports management from Wayne State College in Wayne, Neb., in 2009.

Other past experience includes: junior varsity coach at Ralston (Neb.) High School and the head coach at Gretna (Neb.) High School. During his two seasons at the helm of the Dragons, the teams improved their win total each year. In spring 2002, his Gretna team captured the Nebraska Class B boys state championship.

Shad and his wife, Beth, currently reside in Omaha.
