Samantha Hammond was announced as the head Volleyball coach at College of Saint Mary on March 10, 2010. The new Flames' coach comes to CSM after serving for the past two seasons as the head volleyball coach at Lexington High School in Lexington, Neb. Prior to Lexington, Hammond served as an assistant coach at the University of Nebraska - Kearney (UNK).
While Hammond served as assistant coach for UNK, the Lopers had a 33-5 record, a Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference championship and a trip to the NCAA Tournament Sweet 16. Hammond also brings club volleyball experience having served as the director for the Nebraska Gold Volleyball Club from 2007-08 and coaching for the club for five years.
As a standout player for UNK, Hammond's highest honor came in 2005 when she was named to the American Volleyball Coaches Association All-American Team. She was also a three- time Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference All-Conference selection and an All-Region selection in 2005. In addition, UNK never failed to make the NCAA post-season during Hammond's playing career.
