Biography:
To teach theology
in today's world offers the unique opportunity to help students tap into the
deep undercurrent of interest in spirituality and the religious dimension of
life. Students come alive when the study of theology connects to their
professional lives and to the world in which they live. The search for God, the
search for truth and meaning often reveal to students a new depth in their
interior lives as well as a new appreciation of the relationship between faith
communities and contemporary culture.
I was born and
raised in Dayton, Ohio where I attended Catholic grade school and
Catholic high school. After teaching
high school for a number of years (there was nothing more exciting for me than
teaching sophomores!) I embarked upon my doctorate in theology.
My religious
community, the Sisters of Mercy, has never ceased to enrich me, to teach me how
to serve, to focus on those whose needs reveal the face of God, and to provide
me with the gift of friendship. As a Sister of Mercy who teaches theology in a
college first begun by and still connected to the Sisters of Mercy, I find my
profession of teaching particularly meaningful.
