Biography:

My focus has been in maternal-child nursing, transcultural nursing and nursing education. I was a Peace Corps Volunteer in both Chad and Liberia and worked with Project HOPE in Brazil for 8 years, teaching in two universities. I have traveled extensively, taught cross-cultural travel/study courses done and set up exchange programs for health professionals from Africa and Russia. My area of interest is domestic violence and community volunteering and I teach two core curriculum courses on these topics.  I am a member of Sigma Theta Tau International Nursing Honor Society, the Assn. Of Women's Health, Obstetric and Neonatal Nurses and the Return Peace Corps Volunteers.  I am a Board Member of the Radio Talking Book Network as well as a volunteer for their Listening Links program.  I have presented nationally, at the Associate Degree Nurse Educator's Conference in Phoenix AZ in Apr. 2003, at the Syllabus Computer Technology Conference in Santa Clara CA in July 2001, and the NLN Education Summit in Baltimore in Sept. 2001. I have also done many regional and local presentations on topics such as domestic violence, health assessment, and networking/mentoring.
