In September 2005, Maria Luisa Gastón joined College of Saint Mary as its first Latina recruiter. "My mission is to facilitate and defend the dignity of Hispanic families, especially women," she said. "And what better way to do this than through access to higher education?" Originally from Cuba, Gastón obtained a BS in chemistry and philosophy from Cabrini College, and later an MA in religious studies from Catholic University in Washington, D.C. In addition to recruitment and retention of Latina students, Gastón also directs the annual Latina Summer Academy, a week-long academic camp geared to 9th and 10th grade Latinas.
Kristin came to College of Saint Mary in 2007 from University of Phoenix, where she was an enrollment counselor for almost two years. She recently graduated with her Master of Business Administration, and she started her first semester at College of Saint Mary's Doctorate in Education with an Emphasis in Educational Leadership.
Jamie is a graduate of the University of Nebraska-Omaha, where she majored in psychology. Her studies focused on educational psychology, cognitive psychology, and the psychology of learning. One of her proudest moments was graduating as a lifetime member of Psi-Chi, the International Honor Society in Psychology. She plans on pursuing a master’s degree.
Brittney Longwell enjoys having a career where she can assist students in meeting their educational, personal, and professional goals. Brittney is a graduate of the University of Nebraska at Omaha where she majored in Speech Communication. She is currently completing her master’s degree in Communication with an emphasis in gender and politics.
Rachel Richardson joined the College of Saint Mary Enrollment Department in April 2011. She spent the last seven years at Buena Vista University serving as the Assistant Director of the Council Bluffs location. Rachel understands that choosing a college is one of the most important decisions a student will make. She is incredibly passionate about what CSM has to offer, and looks forward to helping students fulfill their dreams of going to college.
Lindsey joined the College of Saint Mary Enrollment team in September 2011. She is a recent graduate of Iowa State University where she obtained her Master’s in Educational Leadership and Policy Studies. Lindsey is very passionate about helping students find the support they need to become successful individuals in college and as working professionals.
