High achieving students (3.5 GPA and above) are invited to participate in the Frances Warde Scholarship competition. Participants will compete for a $2,000 scholarship through a series of interviews by CSM faculty and administrators and written essays. Critical thinking, written and verbal communication skills and the ability to effectively persuade members of the CSM community of scholars are pivotal in the selection process. Awardees are recognized as the exemplar students to embody the mission of CSM. Students must maintain a 3.5 GPA to retain this scholarship.
Mother Leo Gallagher, RSM Scholarship
$1,500 per year, competitive scholarship.
Academically strong students (3.0-3.4 GPA) are invited to participate in the Mother Leo Gallagher, RSM Scholarship competition. Mother Mary Leo Gallagher, another Sister of Mercy, carried on the tradition and opened the doors of College of Saint Mary in 1923. In the old Continental Hotel at 15th and Castelar Streets, the work began. The church schools needed teachers and Mother Gallagher believed women needed a strong liberal arts education to be effective in these positions. Several $1,500 scholarships are awarded each year to talented young women who compete through interviews by CSM faculty and administrators and written essays. In memory of College of Saint Mary's founder, these scholars continue the long-held tradition of compassionate service, education and development of mind, body and spirit. A minimum GPA of 3.25 is required to maintain this award.
