Is daycare available?

Child care is the responsibility of each parent. Spellman Child Development Center is adjacent to campus and a convenient option for mothers living on campus. Moreover, the Director of Mothers Living & Learning can provide resources for finding daycare.

 

The elementary age children will typically attend school in the Omaha public school district.

Are there special grants or financial aid for residents of Mothers Living & Learning?
There are no designated funds for the residents of Mothers Living & Learning; however, there are a multitude of grants and scholarships available to all College of Saint Mary students. The Financial Aid Office assists each student in locating and obtaining funding for these expenses through federal financial aid, TANF, scholarships, grants and student loans

How big is a room in Mothers Living & Learning?
All of the rooms in Walsh Residence Hall are different sizes. The smallest room in Mothers Living & Learning is 15 x18. Rooms are assigned based on room size, number of children, ages of child(ren), and class standing.

Each room comes equipped with one twin extra-long bed, a dresser, a desk, and a desk chair

What support services are available to Mothers Living & Learning residents?

Students work closely with the Director of Mothers Living & Learning, who serves as counselor, ombudsman, and advisor. The director also coordinates workshops on parenting skills, counseling sessions on a variety of topics, and a mentoring program where single parents share their experiences and successes.

 

In addition, students in the program benefit from all the services the University has to offer including academic support, career counseling, and a wide variety of student activities and cultural events.

What are the dining options available for my child?
All College of Saint Mary Residence Hall residents have a meal plan and your dependent child(ren) are included on this meal plan.

Can I live on campus year round?
Summer residents are charged for housing.  Previously the housing fee has been $800 for the summer.  During the summer there is no meal plan offered

Is there assigned parking for Mothers Living & Learning residents?
Depending on the age of your child and availability, you may purchase a reserved parking sign for parking in front of Walsh Hall.

Where can I do my laundry and how much does it cost?
This is one of the great benefits of living on our campus; we have laundry facilities right on your floor. Walsh Hall has one laundry room on each of the floors. Students can use the washers and dryers at no cost.
