OUR MISSION 

     The mission of the Security Department of College of Saint Mary is to provide a safe and secure environment for students, faculty, staff, and campus visitors.  This includes regular patrolling of the campus during the evening hours, enforcement of CSM policies, ensuring that all campus facilities are safe and properly secured, investigation of any crimes which occur on campus, and the continuous assessment of our safety and security programs.  The security staff also strives to integrate the mission of CSM with the overall security function. 

THE CSM SECURITY DEPARTMENT 

     The CSM Security Department consists of the Director of Security, three regular security officers, and several on-call officers who serve at special functions.  All officers undergo regular training under the direction of the Director of Security, certified Emergency Medical Technicians, and law enforcement professionals.  This includes training in subjects such as conflict resolution, defensive tactics, and CPR/First-Aid.

FOR YOUR SAFETY 

Access to Campus Facilities 

·         All campus facilities are locked between the hours of 9:00p.m. and 10:00p.m. every evening and are regularly patrolled by security personnel.  Persons wishing to enter any of these buildings after they have been locked must present a CSM I.D. card to the security officer on duty. 

·         Front desk RA's are on duty every evening in Lozier Residence Hall until 2:00a.m. Access to the building is obtained only through use of a card passkey, 24 hrs. a day. The 3^th and 4^th floors of the Administration Building, which house the Mothers Living and Learning students, are accessible only with the use of a special key.  

·         Non-Resident: Guests must be accompanied at all times by a hall resident and must sign in with the RA on duty. 

Escort Service  

·         Students, faculty, staff, and visitors may contact the Security Office and request an escort to or from their vehicles, or any location on campus.    

Security Tips  

·         The Director of Security sends out two emails each month to all CSM students and employees wherein various security issues and special tips regarding personal safety are provided.
