Earn Your Master's Degree in Education While Continuing to Work
The master of science in education degree is designed for practicing or experienced educators and instructional leaders. You may choose from two emphases. Our curriculum and instruction emphasis is designed for reflective practitioners to work with all students in preschool through grade 12 settings. Our early childhood education emphasis is designed for reflective practitioners to work with children in preschool through kindergarten.
You will take courses in educational research, human learning, assessment, curriculum, leadership and educational technology in addition to those in your area of emphasis. With the curriculum and instruction emphasis, you may also choose to take additional course work or earn certification in special education or English as a Second Language (ESL).
According to the U.S. Department of Labor, the demand for teachers in early childhood, elementary, middle school and high school will continue to increase up to 14 percent by 2022. The annual median salary for teachers depends upon level.
