Our lab size usually consists of 15-20 students. We like to have a small number so that each student gets adequate hands-on time and individual instruction. Our lecture sizes can be slightly larger but still small enough that each student feels comfortable asking questions and sharing their comments.

What are the pre-requisites for the program?
There are no pre-requisites for this program. There are pre-requisites for certain classes that you need to complete for the program, but these courses can be made up during your time at CSM.

How do I know if the classes I have taken will transfer?
Only classes that you have received a grade of C or better will be accepted.

Can I still join the program if I already have a degree?
Yes, about 15% of the current students already have a degree.

Can I get an additional degree?
You could work towards a second degree in Rehabilitation Studies. If you decide to get a second degree from CSM, you would need to complete the college’s core requirements which include six hours of theology, three hours of experiencing the liberal arts, three hours of fine arts, three hours of history, three hours of English, and five hours of electives.

Depending on how many classes you have already taken. It can range from 3-5 years.

Do I get to chose my own fieldwork site?
Students do get to put a preference for fieldwork site and setting in. The fieldwork coordinator will do their best to make sure you are placed in the best fit possible.

Am I able to go out of state form my fieldwork?
College of Saint Mary has many contracts with out of state fieldwork sites. There are many local sites available as well.

How do I know O.T. is for me?
It is always a good idea for you to research the profession. If you are interested in occupational therapy, we recommend job shadowing current therapists in order to get a feel for what the job is typically like.
