Become a Nurse

The first step toward your goal is taking the TEAS

College of Saint Mary requires that all students pursuing a bachelor’s degree in nursing take the Test of Essential Academic Skills (TEAS)  covering the following academic areas — math, science, English, reading, and language use — or submit an ACT score of 22 or higher. Our enrollment team and nursing faculty will consider your results as part of the overall admissions process.

We use this assessment to measure the entry-level skills and abilities that will help you succeed in the program. You can take the TEAS only twice per admission year and the cost to register is $40 each time.

We recommend that you prepare for the TEAS by:

  • Taking practice tests — search online for "TEAS practice tests."
  • Reviewing the TEAS manual — available for use in the College of Saint Mary Library or for purchase at the College of Saint Mary Campus Store.
  • Attending our free review sessions, which are designed to help guide you in studying for this important exam.

If you are unsure if the TEAS is required to complete your application, please contact the Office of Enrollment at (402) 399-2355.
