CSM goes tray-less in dining hall
In an ongoing effort to increase environmental responsibility on
the CSM campus, the University is now switching to tray-less dining in the
school's dining hall. This effort follows CSM's move to a "Styrofoam free"
campus in the fall of 2009, and partners with other ongoing "green" efforts at
CSM including a campus-wide recycling program, smoke-free campus environment,
and an energy management system in all campus buildings that is
centrally-controlled to conserve and monitor energy use at CSM.
"This move to tray-less dining will lead to a significant
reduction in food and beverage waste and energy consumption at CSM," said Dr.
Maryanne Stevens, RSM, College of Saint Mary President. "We hope it will also
encourage students to follow our lead and participate in additional efforts to
reduce their ecological footprint."
