General Background

Dr. Alejandra Gonzalez-Cabrera is an Assistant Professor of Nursing whose teaching and scholarly work center on health equity, mental health, and the care of marginalized populations. Her teaching spans undergraduate didactic and clinical courses in mental health nursing, pharmacology, and health equity, as well as faculty development and guest lectures. She is also passionate about giving nursing students the opportunity to study abroad while providing service in underserved communities in different countries around the world. Scholarly activities include research focused on weight stigma, sexual minority health, and health disparities, culminating in a PhD dissertation and peer-reviewed publication in Nursing Research. Dr. Gonzalez-Cabrera has disseminated her work nationally and internationally through conference presentations and posters and remains actively engaged in curriculum leadership, interdisciplinary collaboration, and ongoing professional development to advance inclusive, equity-driven nursing education and scholarship.
