Josie Harper Nursing Scholarship
Through the generosity of The Harper Family Foundation, College of Saint Mary is helping to provide a debt-free pathway to 100 nursing students over the next four years! Charles “Mike” Harper and his late wife Joan “Josie” launched The Harper Family Foundation to create a legacy of giving. Josie was a nurse who passed away from cancer. Their goal has become to create lasting and impactful contributions.
Josie Harper Nursing Scholarship Recipients receive:
- Up to $29,000 annually*
- Significant financial support for tuition, campus housing, educational expenses
- The Scholarship is automatically renewable each year through the completion of your BSN degree

Eligibility Requirements
- Acceptance to one of the following:
- Practical Nursing Certificate (PNC), as a new student beginning May 2022.
- Pre-Nursing program as a new student beginning August 2022.
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) program as a new student beginning in August 2022.
- Demonstrate high financial need through Federal Pell Grant Eligibility or be eligible for a CSM Misericordia Scholarship.
- And at least one of the following criteria:
- First generation (defined as neither parent earning at least a bachelor’s degree)
- A person of color
- Student parent

You will need to submit two letters of recommendation from persons attesting to your qualification and motivation to be a successful nursing student and healthcare professional. It is recommended that letters come from teachers, administrators, professional, or other impactful adult figures. BOLD Advising
Josie Harper Nursing Scholarship recipients will be part of the BOLD Advising program. The purpose of BOLD is to improve access to education, strengthen academic support services and empower women to mitigate barriers to their careers.
