General Background

Dr. Josh Evans was born in Omaha, Nebraska and graduated from Millard North High School. He graduated from Rockhurst University in Kansas City, Missouri in 2000 where he majored in Philosophy. He completed his medical school training (M.D.) at St. Louis University School of Medicine in 2004. Dr. Evans then went on to serve an Internship and Residency in Internal Medicine at the Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC) in Charleston, South Carolina. Following residency training in 2007, he served an additional year as Chief Resident and junior faculty member at MUSC. He then went on to complete fellowship training in Gastroenterology and Hepatology with additional specialization in advanced therapeutic endoscopy at MUSC in 2011. Dr. Evans is trained in endoscopic mucosal resection (EMR) of early-stage GI malignancies and advanced pre-cancerous lesions as well as well as endoscopic ultrasonography (EUS). Since 2011, Dr. Evans was in private practice as a gastroenterologist and hepatologist in Omaha and was the President of the Great Plains Colon Cancer Task Force for over a decade. Dr. Evans joined the faculty at CSM in 2025 as Associate Professor and is the Student Success Coach in the Physician Assistant studies program.
