CSM Career History
I started at CSM in 2017 as the Lozier Residence Hall director. After departmental changes and shifts in responsibilities, I was promoted to assistant director of residence life and health education coordinator, where I served for three years. In 2020, I had the opportunity to apply for the director of residence life and housing position, which I was selected for and have served in since.
How has CSM supported your career growth and development?
CSM’s mission and values of supporting women and fostering leadership extend beyond the students who attend the institution. This same foundation is reflected in how CSM supports its faculty and staff.
CSM has supported my career growth and development by giving me opportunities to use my strengths within the Residence Life Department, serve on institutional and hiring committees and participate in Staff Council as part of our shared governance model. These experiences have allowed me to collaborate with colleagues across campus, contribute to decision-making, advocate for change and further develop my own leadership philosophy.
What opportunities at CSM have helped you grow professionally?
Throughout my career at CSM, I have been fortunate to experience continuous professional growth. Each position I have held has required me to develop new skills and perspectives to meet our students’ expectations and trends, as well as the institution’s operational needs.
CSM has encouraged my professional growth by providing opportunities to attend conferences and webinars, participate in a CSM-developed leadership cohort and pursue my Doctor of Education as an employee benefit. These experiences have added significant depth and scope to my professional abilities and knowledge.
What do you love about working at CSM?
I think the easiest answer is the people. I have some of the most amazing colleagues and cross-campus collaborators.
More deeply, however, I love the opportunity to serve college students and young women as they navigate their individual journeys toward graduation. CSM is an institution that truly lives out its mission and values, and you can feel that throughout the campus environment. I appreciate being part of an institution where my personal values align with its core values and where I have the opportunity to make a meaningful impact on the student experience.
