The Inclusive Campus is a college-wide initiative that reflects College of Saint Mary’s values and mission to provide access to education for women in an environment that calls forth potential and fosters leadership. An Inclusive Campus is critical to an exceptional liberal arts education. It provides students, faculty, staff, community members, and alumnae opportunities to engage with issues around social justice in our local and global communities. Building an Inclusive Campus begins with a frame of mind and a commitment to understanding that inclusion is at the core of CSM’s values and the foundation for student success. Our offices and institutional committees work to ensure equity, inclusivity and diversity in all aspects of the student experience and academic life, and for all the members of our College community.
Martin Luther King Jr. Observance
1/17/22: College is closed in honor of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day
To celebrate MLK Day 2021, CSM's Office of Diversity & Inclusion and the Student Leadership & Organizations Office invited students, faculty and staff to gather and honor Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.'s legacy. We welcomed guest speaker Jasmine Harris on Friday, January 15, 2021 via Zoom.
Martin Luther King Jr. spent his adult life fighting for the equal treatment of Black people and eradicating racism in America. In his last speech, "I've Been to the Mountaintop," he expressed that he had been to the top of the mountain and saw the Promised Land. The Promised Land he talked about included equal treatment and integration. But, have we actually reached this mountain top Jasmine L. Harris, is the Director of Public Policy and Advocacy at RISE. She spoke on the difference between equality, equity, racism and anti-racism, and the importance of renewed commitment we must all take to ensure we can make it to the mountaintop and beyond…together.
