Students and staff give back to Omaha community on 22nd Annual Spirit of Service Day
REGISTRATION OPEN THROUGH APRIL 1ST
OMAHA, NEB. – On Thursday, April 11th, more than 400 students, faculty and staff members from College of Saint Mary will leave behind their daily routine to volunteer together throughout the Omaha Community for the 22nd Annual Spirit of Service Day.
“On this day of service, our students learn outside the classroom,” explains Carla Gerriets, director of campus ministry. “This is a day where all students and participants live out the mission of College of Saint Mary by showing respect and dignity for others through service.”
CSM volunteers will complete projects throughout the Omaha Metro area at 31 local non-profit/service agencies. In line with the college’s mission, this day embodies one of the six pillars of the university: commitment to compassionate service.
“I enjoyed volunteering and had a lot of fun helping others alongside my friends,” says nursing major Abbie Gahan ‘20, who has participated in Spirit of Service in the past. “This definitely ties in with CSM’s mission because we are helping the community in a variety of ways.”
Volunteers will gather at the College of Saint Mary Lied Fitness Center for an 8:20 a.m. kickoff breakfast the morning of April 11th. They will then travel to locations across Omaha for either a half day or full day of service.
