College of Saint Mary to Host Community Food Drive

Monday, October 30, 2023

OMAHA, Neb. – College of Saint Mary will host a Community Food Drive during the week of Nov. 13-17, with two dedicated days for the public to drop off donations on campus, 7000 Mercy Road.

CSM invites the local community to participate in the food drive. Donations of non-perishable food items and canned goods will be collected from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. Nov. 16-17 in the roundabout just off the Mercy Road entrance to campus. Students, faculty and staff can drop off donations throughout the week in the Hixson-Lied Commons.

CSM is marking its 100th anniversary in 2023. In celebration of that milestone, the Spirit of Service committee has set a goal of collecting 100 boxes of food for 100 years.

“Extending the invitation to the city of Omaha to partner with us in our campus food drive offers a beautiful opportunity to widen our impact for the community food pantries, as well as deepen our connection with engaging with our larger community of Omaha, even if it is simply to greet them on our campus and thank them for their donations and see our neighbors face to face,” said Liz Ludvik, interim director of spirituality, service and social justice.

Suggested food items include peanut butter, macaroni and cheese, canned tuna and chicken, canned fruit and vegetables, canned pork and beans, pasta and sauce, boxed meals, etc. Donations will be given to Omaha area food pantries.
