Crowning the CSM Queen of Hearts

Omaha, NE – For 71 years College of Saint Mary (CSM) has recognized students who exemplify the values of character, leadership and service through its annual “Queen of Hearts” celebration sponsored by the Student Senate. On Saturday, February 25, 2017, Lauren Rempe, an occupational therapy major from Superior, Neb., was crowned CSM’s 2017 Queen of Hearts. Lauren is a Presidential Ambassador, enrollment student worker, treasurer for the Student Occupational Therapy Association, and member of the Dean’s List.

The "Queen of Hearts" is selected by students, faculty and staff through a campus-wide election. In addition to the “Queen of Hearts,” a “Princess” is selected for first, second and third year students. 

For third-year students, the honor of princess was given to Mackenzie McKeone, an occupational therapy major from Lexington, Neb. Mackenzie is a current Resident Advisor, member of the Student Occupational Therapy Association, part of the Student Orientation Staff, and a Presidential Ambassador.

Second-year Princess was Katie Golka, an English major with a secondary education minor from Grand Island, Neb. Katie is a member of the Campus Activities Board, Student Education Association of Nebraska, Tennis team, Student Senate, Leadership Launch graduate, Leadership Leap Leader, Dean’s List, and Student Orientation Staff.

First-year Princess was Dezirae Delancey, a nursing major from Bennington, Neb. Dezirae is a current member of the Residence Hall Council, Student Senate, and Student Nursing Association. She also is vice president of Phi Beta Lambda and a participant in the Science Outreach Project and the Leadership Launch program.
