Monday, February 25, 2019

OMAHA, Neb. – Marian Standeven, vice president for mission integration at College of Saint Mary (CSM), will be a recipient of the 2019 College of Public Affairs and Community Service (CPACS) Alumni Award for Excellence in Public Service. The award is presented to University of Nebraska Omaha (UNO) alumni who have distinguished themselves through their contributions to the public good.

“It is a humbling experience to be invited to receive this recognition from my alma mater,” says Standeven. “I am pleased and very grateful to accept this award, as the many community leaders who have been recognized in the past are such notable contributors to our community. I’ve always appreciated my undergraduate time at UNO and my education there gave me a solid start into my career.”

In her current role at CSM, Marian Standeven ensures the understanding and application of the mission in all facets of the CSM community. She leads the Leadership Formation programming for staff and faculty leaders, oversees the Inclusive Campus strategic direction and the office of Multicultural Initiatives, and chairs the Institutional Sustainability Committee.

Standeven graduated from UNO in 1981 and then went on to receive her master’s degree in counseling psychology from Loyola College. She began her career as a registered nurse before moving into the field of mission integration, in which she has worked over 30 years. Prior to her role at CSM, Standeven served as the director of the departments of mission integration, ethics, pastoral services and language access for CHI Health’s 13-hospital system in Nebraska and Iowa.

Standeven will be honored at an event at UNO’s Thompson Alumni Center on Tuesday, March 5th.
