College of Saint Mary will host a panel discussion at Hillmer Art Gallery on campus for potential Fulbright scholars

College of Saint Mary to host Fulbright information session December 9

OMAHA, Neb. – College of Saint Mary (CSM) will host an information and networking event for the Nebraska Chapter of the Fulbright Association on December 9.  

The event is open to students, faculty and professionals interested in pursuing a Fulbright award. Attendees will hear from past Fulbright recipients and connect with peers and mentors from other Nebraska colleges and universities.  

“I’m thrilled that our university is hosting this event, bringing Fulbright scholars from around the state together on our campus,” said Mark Gudgel, director of the environmental sustainability minor and associate professor of education. “It’s a great opportunity for our students in particular, who may one day pursue a Fulbright themselves.” 

The Fulbright program fosters mutual understanding among nations through educational and cultural exchange. The Nebraska Chapter of the Fulbright Association promotes global awareness and international understanding by encouraging Nebraskans to participate in Fulbright programs and by connecting Fulbright recipients.  

A panel discussion will be from 4:30-5:30 p.m. in the Hillmer Art Gallery in Walsh Hall on the CSM campus. A reception and networking event will be from 5:30-7 p.m. at Saffron Urban Indian Kitchen in Aksarben Village. 

“I hope as many students and faculty as are able—not just from CSM but from around Nebraska—will attend. This should be an excellent opportunity for people who are interested in earning a Fulbright to meet people who have already done so and begin the process,” said Gudgel, who the vice president of Nebraska Chapter of the Fulbright Association board of directors.
