College of Saint Mary receives College of Distinction recognition
OMAHA, Neb. – College of Saint Mary (CSM) has been recognized for providing a high-quality undergraduate education as a College of Distinction for the 2025-2026 academic year.
This is the fourth year CSM has received this recognition. The College of Distinction honor highlights the College’s commitment to providing a student experience that focuses on hands-on learning, strong student-faculty relationships, a vibrant campus life and successful outcomes.
“This recognition is a testament to our commitment to providing an exceptional academic experience,” said President Heather Smith. “The College of Distinction honor reflects the dedication of our faculty and staff and reinforces our mission to empower women to lead lives with purpose, compassion and impact.”
In addition to the overall recognition, CSM was named a Nebraska College of Distinction and a Catholic College of Distinction.
Colleges of Distinction also awards recognition in individual areas. CSM earned recognition in affordability, business, career development, education, equity and inclusion, and nursing.
“College of Saint Mary has crafted a campus culture where students are empowered to take ownership of their learning,” said Tyson Schritter, chief operating officer at Colleges of Distinction. “Its programs reflect the kind of innovation and intentionality that prepare students for life after graduation.”
This recognition is based on the Colleges of Distinction’s unique evaluating criteria known as the Four Distinctions—Engaged Students, Great Teaching, Vibrant Community and Successful Outcomes. Through extensive research and interviews, Colleges of Distinction identifies institutions that make a meaningful impact on students’ lives.
CSM is one of the Midwest’s only all-women's colleges, offering over 40 academic programs. Every program integrates real-world experiences and prepares students with the confidence and skills they need to become leaders in their career fields.
