CSM hosts premiere of We Are DREAMers documentary

Wednesday, January 31, 2018

OMAHA, NEB. – College of Saint Mary will show the premiere of We Are DREAMers next week, a locally produced film which shares the stories of young Dreamers in Nebraska. The project is a joint venture between Sherwood Foundation, Immigrant Legal Center, and The Rose Theater.

We are DREAMers features stories from young undocumented immigrants who have been protected from deportation under the DREAM Act and reveals the impact DACA has made on DREAMers and the greater community.

"They really have grown up in our American system,” says documentary director, Mele Mason, in a recent interview with KETV of Omaha. “They are American in every aspect except for they don't have this piece of paper.”

Mason said it was amazing to meet and get to know these young people, many of whom are lawyers, dentists, teachers, and counselors.

The 48-minute documentary will be shown Feb. 6 & 7 at 7 p.m. in CSM’s Gross Auditorium. A live theater production in conjunction with the project will take place the following week at The Rose Theater.

Admission is free, but seating will be limited. To reserve tickets, contact Jessica at jlinhart [at] vgagroup.com or 402-345-5401 (ext. 116).
