Now in its second year, the Alumni Council is working to support alumni and strengthen their connection to College of Saint Mary.

“I’m incredibly proud of the momentum our council has built. Our strategy, engagement and execution have laid a strong foundation—through meaningful events, volunteer efforts and intentional networking, we’ve demonstrated the value and purpose of this group,” said Anna Knobbe Palmer ’04, Alumni Council president and senior manager of real estate for Union Pacific.

The Alumni Council, which consists of up to 10 alumni, aims to inspire lifelong alumni engagement by cultivating meaningful connections, championing the College’s mission and strengthening the alumni and College relationship through events.

The Council meets twice a year—during homecoming week in the fall and spring commencement. During these meetings, the group shares updates on college initiatives, provides committee reports, coordinates upcoming alumni events and strategizes new ways to support alumni.

“These sessions are collaborative and forward-looking, ensuring our efforts remain aligned with both alumni needs and the College’s mission,” Palmer said.

New members are nominated by current members of the Council and elected annually, beginning their term in the fall. Council members serve one-to-three-year terms, depending on their position. Members can serve two consecutive terms.
