Alumnae Spotlight

Betty Egan, JD

Though she attended the College of Saint Mary for only two years, Betty Egan still credits the University with instilling the “desire to be a strong, confident, and independent woman.”

Betty attended CSM from 1969 to 1970. While here, she developed lasting relationships with “remarkable women,” Betty said.

Betty earned her bachelor’s degree from Rosary College, now Dominican University, in River Forest, Ill., in 1973. She received her law degree from Creighton University, where she was a member of the Creighton Law Review, in 1981.

In 1987, Betty was a founding member — and the only female partner — of the law firm Walentine O’Toole, LLP. She has more than 30 years of litigation experience in Nebraska's state and federal courts. She is a member of the Omaha Bar Association, Nebraska State Bar Association, and Nebraska Defense Counsel Association.

Betty was awarded the Alumnae Achievement Award during Homecoming on Sept. 23.
