College of Saint Mary Community Volunteers for Spirit of Service Day

More than 300 College of Saint Mary students, faculty, staff and friends joined together as a volunteer community on April 16 for our 18th annual Spirit of Service Day.

Volunteers completed more than 30 projects that otherwise would have otherwise been neglected or delayed, in partnership with 22 area non-profit/service agencies.

At the Food Bank for the Heartland, volunteers stocked shelves, repackaged bulk food into family-size packages and helped clients load their vehicles with food and clothing.

At the Kids Can Community Center, they painted and organized closets, and tended to the yard and garden.

And members of College of Saint Mary’s Student Education Association of Nebraska (SEAN) collected and donated prom dresses and accessories to Omaha South High School.

“This day of service embraces College of Saint Mary’s mission and inspires our campus community to serve others and make a difference at local non-profits,” said Caelee Lehman, College of Saint Mary Director of Student Leadership & Organizations. “In the past nine years, we’ve nearly doubled the number of volunteers and projects being completed on this annual day of service.”
